Being the 6th among the Fatui Harbingers, Scaramouche is not well-liked. Some say he has a disagreeable personality, being difficult to get along with, while others say he doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut. Even his fellow Harbingers appear to dislike him.

He carries a narcissistic air of authority, and arrogance as he'd lash out the insults to others, including the Fatui who work under his commands. Scaramouche tends to also be cunning, and unpredictable while not displaying any true loyalty to anybody.

Before he joined the Fatui, or was known by the name Scaramouche, he was originally created by Ei as a prototype into the technology of making puppet bodies. While he was intended to serve as a vessel for Ei's Gnosis, he shed tears upon his creation, leading her to deem him too gentle for such a task. She did not wish to kill him so she, out of pity, sealed his power as a divine creation and allowed him to take control of his own life.

Her creation had recognized her as both a creator and a mother who had abandoned and discarded him. He spent his early days in the Shakkei Pavilion.

This in-game cutscene the summarizes the 3 betrayals in the wandering puppet's life.

For a long while since after then, he wandered throughout Inazuma, naming himself "Kunikuzushi." (It means "Country Destroyer" in Japanese.) Kunikuzushi eventually chanced upon a group of Fatui. Deciding they were interesting, he joined their ranks, wherein they unlocked the innate power he had as a creation of an Archon...
